Victor Tsai
VIOLIN
Victor Tsai is a violinist known for his exceptional performances and dedication to music. Born in Taiwan, he has gained international recognition through various prestigious competitions and performances.
Victor’s journey in music began with a Bachelor of Music degree from National Taiwan Normal University, where he studied under the guidance of Nanette Chen, the Dean of NTNU Music Department. He furthered his education at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, earning a Performer Diploma in 2024 and a Master of Music in 2023, studying with the renowned Professor Grigory Kalinovsky. His time at Jacobs School was marked by a full-ride scholarship, showcasing his outstanding talent and dedication.
Victor is excited to become Co-Concertmaster for the Great Falls Symphony in 2024 and his performance career has included significant roles such as the a finalist position with The Florida Orchestra and several renowned orchestras. He has served as Associate Principal Second Violin with the Owensboro Orchestra. His notable solo performances include the Sibelius Violin Concerto in D minor with the IU Orchestra.
His artistry has been recognized with several awards, including the winner at the 2023 WBMC Violin Competition in Poland, 2nd Place at the 2023 KPIMC Composition Competition in the USA, and earlier in his career, he earned 2nd Place at the 2019 Academy of the Taiwan String Violin Competition.
His performances have taken him across the globe, including guest appearances at the CHIMEI Museum, where he played an instrument made by G. B. Guadagnini (1784), and at the Japan & Malaysia Embassy as a guest artist. He also served as a church pianist for the Central Christian Church in Indiana.​​
In his leisure time, Victor loves traveling, composing, and observing animal behaviors. He enjoys playing basketball with his friends, and he is also good at making Japanese and Taiwanese food.
